A clinical neuropsychologist specializes in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological, medical, and psychiatric disorders that affect cognition using evidence-based practices. Clinical neuropsychologists work with clients to understand and address brain-behavior relationships by evaluating cognitive functions like memory, attention, language, and problem-solving using standardized testing and observations. They help determine the underlying causes of cognitive difficulties and develop and implement treatment plans to improve cognitive function and address behavioral challenges. Common conditions often treated by clinical neuropsychologists include acquired and traumatic brain injury, concussion and its protracted recovery, and other neurological disorders, as well as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and other psychiatric conditions that may have cognitive components.

Dr. Lisa Bolshin is a licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She attained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University with a declared competency in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology. She has extensive training and experience in cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, rehabilitation health psychology, and neuropsychology. Through her work as a clinical neuropsychologist, she has developed and implemented a group therapy program based on dialectical behavior therapy and mindfulness meditation techniques adapted for clients with moderate to severe brain injuries. A focus of her clinical work includes assessing and treating individuals with a variety of neurological and psychological conditions. She provides psychological and neuropsychological assessments as well as treatment services for individuals with concussion, acquired brain injury, psychological health and healthy aging/dementia. She has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, and integrating other evidence-based methodologies as needed. She provides clinical consultation to clients and staff in long-term supportive housing residences, as well as a brain injury organizations that extend throughout rural communities in Ontario.

Dr. Bolshin currently provides clinical neuropsychological services at CHIRS, as well as therapy services virtually at The Balanced Brain Clinic. Her practice areas are in clinical psychology and neuropsychology across all adult ages (18-90+). She is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association, the Canadian Psychological Association, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. She is registered with The College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
